Exhibition – The Arts Association Heritage Trust hosts an exhibition of artworks by John Muafangejo in the National Art Gallery (NAGN) in Windhoek, until 30 April  2010 (061 23 1160).*
Exhibition – Form and Transformation, a collection of paintings by the German artist and honorary professor of the University of Namibia, Helmut Lauschke, in the main gallery of the NAGN until the 14th (061 23 1160).
Exhibition – A colourful children’s art exhibition takes place at the NAGN featuring works created as part of a Mobile Exhibition Outreach Programme hosted by the French Mission for Co-operation and during art classes by the Youth Art Programme of the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre. The official opening takes place on 30 January (061 23 1160).
Exhibition – Jewellery by Namibians Ricky Khaxab and photographs by Nessy Hilifilwa at the Bank Windhoek Omba Gallery of the Namibia Craft Centre until 6 February. Note: The Namibia Craft Centre reopens on 3 January (061 24 2222).*
Exhibition – Identity, an exhibition by Namibian artist Alpheus Mvula at the Woermannhaus Gallery in Swakopmund, until the 6 th (064 40 4140).*
Exhibition – Works of art including a collection of collages, by the former Italian ambassador to Namibia, Massimo Baistrocchi, at Die Muschel in Swakopmund until the 15th (064 40 2874).
Festival – The Savannah music festival takes place at the Pit Stop Bar in Henties Bay’s community hall until the 2nd. Local musicians such as Koos van Zyl, Slap Stick, Titus and Leon Jacobs perform as from 13:00 daily.

Golf  – The annual SMC Brands golf day takes place at the Rossmund Golf Club outside Swakopmund (061 21 5054).
Ski boating – The annual ski-boat competition from the Mole in Swakopmund. Party in the tent adjoining the Mole with entertainment provided by various artists (081 124 1181).

Tue, 5th

Horse riding – The Annual Dressage Equitation and show-jumping tournament takes place in Swakopmund until the 10th (081 124 0293).
Golf – The Castel Lager Golf Day takes place at the Rossmund Golf Club outside Swakopmund (061 21 5433).

Thu, 7th

Cricket – Three-day cricket with South Africa’s Border vs Namibia at Wanderers in Windhoek until the 10th  (061 24 2069).

Sun, 10th

Cricket – One Day International match between Namibia and Border from South Africa at Wanderers (061 24 2069).
Breakfast run – 42 km, 21 km and 10 km, starting off at Wanderers and taking place in Pioneers Park and Academia as from 05:00 (081 124 9471).

Thu, 14th

Music – By Namibian artists Vanessa, Jewlz and Rehab at Zenso Lounge (Gutenberg Platz in Windhoek) at 19:00 (081 347 6830).

Fri, 15th
Classics – At Zenso (Gutenberg Platz in Windhoek) with DJ Two Piece every Friday at 19:00 (081 347 6830).
Jazz – Live jazz bands every Friday at 20:00 at the Windhoek Country Club’s Upstairs @ 30 Something (061 205 5911).

Sat, 16th

Biomarket – Organic vegetables, freshly baked bread and home-made products at 3 Uhland Street in Klein Windhoek from 09:00 to 12:00. Biomarkets also take place on the 23rd and 30th (061 23 9555).

Thu, 21st
Music – By Namibia’s Tchitula Brothers at Zenso Lounge as from 19:00 (081 347 6830).

Sat, 23rd
Running/Walking – Windhoek Harriers host the Horrible Hills event. It takes place in the hilly Eros Mountains, starting in Eiseb Street as from 06:30 (081 124 9471).

Sun, 24th
Soccer – The Leo Namibia Football Association (NFA) Cup kicks off countrywide with about 200 clubs that will be involved in the preliminary stages. Watch the local press for details.

Wed, 27th
Theatre – The Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre hosts a mime show in the National Theatre of Namibia in Windhoek at 20:00 (061 38 7330).

Fri, 29th
Party – A ‘Welcome 2010’ party takes place in the courtyard of the Goethe Centre in Windhoek as from 19:00, with various artists performing (061 22 5700).

February
Sat, 6th
Running/Walking – The annual Joseph & Snyman 10-km and 5-km road races take place in Olympia, starting at the United Club (081 124 9471).
Guided walk – At the National Botanical Gardens in Windhoek starting at 08:00 (061 202 2020).

Mon, 8th
Exhibition – An exhibition of paintings by Namibian artist Nicky Marais opens in the Bank Windhoek Omba Gallery at 18:30 (061 24 2222).
